Marblehead, MA 01945

(781) 631-1814

I am submitting my name for consideration for membership on the PPC.  I have been a life long member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Parish and over the years have been supportive of the parish in various ways.

I live in the Shipyard with my wife Lisa and my two daughters, Sarah and Mary.  As a family we attend weekly Mass and our children are involved in the parish religious education program.  I am involved in local activities and am a member of the Board of Directors of the Shipyard Association.  I care for our parish very deeply, and because of that connection, I feel I am a strong candidate for the Parish Council.

 Colin E. Kelliher

Marblehead, MA 01945

I have been an active member of Star of the Sea Parish for 36 years and feel I am an eligible candidate to run for the Pastoral Parish Council.  Since moving to Marblehead in 1972 with my wife Adrienne, I have raised two daughters, Hannah and Margaret, who have also been active members in our Church.

My activities within the realm of our congregation have included teaching CCD, as well as helping with the Giving Tree.  Through my work at General Electric, I was a proud tutor to a young girl in inner city Lynn, and as a result, feel the tremendous rewards of helping others.  A way I feel that I can help my local Parish and give back to my community is by being on the PPC.  I hope you consider me as a strong component of the future Council Board.

I was born 1934 in East Orange N. J. We moved to Mendham N.J. until World War II, moved to Green Village N.J. to help my grandfather manage his farm. I was part of a very active and successful debating team which debated throughout N.J.  Graduated from Morristown High in 1952.

Accepted to MIT and majored in Chemical Engineering.  Graduated and married Barbara and moved to Texas to work for Shell Chemical.  We had our first two children Kathy and Curtis Jr.  I was accepted at Harvard Graduate School of Business and graduated.  I held several jobs in Ohio and Morristown N.J.  I was VP of sales in a major German Chemical Company which I encouraged to setup business in New Jersey.

After several years and numerous moves we visited Marblehead, MA and moved here in 1973.  My wife Barbara graduated from Notre Dame, Tyngsboro Academy and graduated from Boston College School of Nursing.  After 50 years of marriage my dear wife died in January 2007.

I have found great solace in attending 9:00 Mass and the coffee hour on Sunday and I am delighted to be asked to submit my name for the Parish Pastoral Council.

I would like to submit my name to be considered as a candidate for the Parish Council of Our Lady Star of the Sea Church.  With my background, I believe I might be an asset in helping to bring people together to establish goals for our parish through prayer and open communication. I am a listener and communicator and consider these necessary qualities for a Parish Council member.  I believe we have to be open to new ideas and not judge others because of their beliefs. It’s important to find common ground where everyone’s voice is heard and considered in a loving and accepting way.

My faith is very important to me and I think this would be a wonderful opportunity for me to give and not always take.  I believe that God has a plan for us and maybe He is showing me the way to share my faith with others.  The more involved I have become in our church, the stronger I have become in my faith and as an individual.

I have a B.S. from Boston University and a M.Ed. from Salem State College.  I have experience as a Physical Educator/Science Teacher, Coach for football, basketball and baseball, an Assistant Principal at Beebe Junior High School in Malden, MA and also at Malden High School. I was a Marriage Encounter Team Presenter, Communion Minister, Confirmation Teacher and a Pre-Cana Presenter.

If I were selected to sit on the Parish Council, it would be a gift and not a job.

Thank you for your consideration.

I am expressing my interest in a position on the Parish Pastoral Council.

My name is Mary Elizabeth (Nickerson) Cammett, and I am a native of Marblehead.  I currently reside at 23 Rockaway Street with William, my husband of nearly 27 years.  Our two sons, Wade and Clark, have been active members of this Parish, serving as both Lectors and Eucharistic Ministers.  They remain active in their respective college communities of Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio and The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC, continuing to support Our Lady Star of the Sea Parish when they visit home.  While our children were young, I was a stay at home mother, participating in numerous volunteer groups.  My volunteer opportunities included being a Junior League member serving in both San Francisco and Boston, as well as a volunteer at Saint Joseph School in Salem.  Currently I am employed by Osram Sylvania in Danvers as a supervisor of pricing and dispute resolution.  I graduated from Marblehead High School and Simmons College with a B.A. in both Government and Finance.  Presently, I serve our parish as a Eucharistic Minister.  As an active community member and devoted parish member, I would welcome this challenge of further service to Our Lady Star of the Sea Parish.

Steele, to develop a speaker series that will broadly honor our faith tradition.
